Replacing a fixture that already has a box and wiring in the ceiling is a straightforward job done right and a hazard done wrong. The two things that matter are that the box is rated for what you are hanging and that the connections are solid.
A standard light box is not built to hold a spinning fan, and this is the single most common problem we find when a customer wants to swap a flush light for a ceiling fan. A fan needs a fan-rated box braced to the framing. We check that first, and if yours is not rated we tell you before anything comes down.
We replace fixtures on wiring and boxes that already exist. Running new circuits, adding a box where there was none, upgrading a panel, or anything involving the breaker box itself is licensed electrical work and belongs with a licensed electrician. We will say so plainly rather than take the job.
Two-story entries and stairwell chandeliers need the right ladder or scaffold setup, and they are not a job to improvise from the top step. Tell us the ceiling height when you call so the visit is scheduled with the right equipment.
